Our Alaskan cruise was the first cruise I had ever been on. Daniel has been on a few, so I was quite excited to not only go visit Alaska {and leave the Atlanta heat behind}, but also to experience my first cruise. I believe everyone in our group, except Matt and I had cruised before.
We set sail from Seattle on Sunday afternoon, headed for Ketchikan, Alaska. For all of you who don't know your Alaskan geography, Ketchikan is located about 250 miles south of Juneau and 579 nautical miles north of Seattle. So we traveled a pretty far distance those first few days.
After our champagne toast on the Lido deck, we watched the crew whoop it up with a dj and some very enthusiastic guests. To say that the people watching provided many laughs is an understatement. We also checked out our new hang out spots for the week: Wheelhouse Bar, casino, Skywalker Lounge (dance club), the many dining rooms and buffets, theater, gym, and our very own "tri-deck". We had a room in between Daniel's two sisters and their husbands, and asked that the dividers be opened to make one big deck. This was genius! Many fun times were had on our "tri-deck"...who needs to go to a dance club when we have our own dj, a la spotify? ;)
Monday was our first full day at sea, so it was quite laid back. This was a good thing seeing how Sunday was a long day of traveling. Hunger Games was shown in the theater, so Janice and I saw that together before getting ready for dinner. I hadn't yet seen HG, but loved it! I think it was an excellent portrayal of the book, and Jennifer Lawrence was great! Daniel and I didn't stay out too late, in anticipation of our 6am arrival of Ketchikan!
